It's been a few weeks since we had a Friday Love List™ here, but according to Meg this week is for "THINGS I LOVE MOST AND BEST AND WHOA! THE LOVE OVERWHELMS ME!" so I feel I should join in.
Things I love most:
Real life Good writing Etsy.com My cousins Email & IM music that makes me melt Chocolate My ibook (please live forever so I don't have to upgrade) Horses My hand-stitched quilt made by my great-great-grandmother comedy that makes me laugh 'til I'm in pain Tuscany World Cup football Coffee Sending off my jewelry to patrons in corners of the globe I've never even been myself Flickr friends Watching a cat stretch Baking a perfect lemon meringue pie Birdsong in the morning Driving on country roads A self-deprecating sense of humour Big, masculine wrist watches Wood floors Hot showers Sunlight filtering through lace curtains Sheepish grins The perfect jeans Collapsing into a pile of clean laundry just out of the dryer Knowing the meaning of life, the universe, and everything Ceiling fans Providing comfort Cotton People who can keep their temper Hot cider Waking up to a world coated in snow Family traditions Embroidery An impossibly starry night sky Kisses stolen in a dark theatre Yosemite and You
Jill is one of the nicest, most professional, and generous Etsians I've yet encountered. I custom ordered a gold fill toe ring for a Christmas present (she usually works in sterling), and when it turned out that the gauge used was a little too thick, she sent me another, thinner one... when I hadn't even complained about the first one. The recipient is thrilled with the ring, and I got to keep the "flawed" one, which is still perfectly wearable. Artisans like Jill are why I love Etsy. There is something wonderful about knowing exactly where your jewelry (or scarf or handbag or soap, etc.) comes from, and knowing that the person who made it wanted it to make you happy.
Best Day of Love: this one, because the cherry blossoms were beautiful, because the food was delicious, because it was so ridiculously cold to be having a picnic, and because I miss those girls
Best Moment of Love: hugging a friend i had parted on poor terms with and hadn't spoken to in a year
Word of Love: canticchiare (Italian: to sing languidly)
Purchase of Love: uber-soft, bordeaux-red leather wallet, sold to me by the Italian artisan who made it, who told me to think of him every time i used it
